I have been learning something newww! Basically playing with layers in photoshop. I really want to enjoy the pictures I take and sometimes the original shots just don’t match the feeling. And I think the feeling is key. Don’t you? We’ll go with yes, because I can’t hear you right now :)
So I poked around the Nets and then poked around in photoshop and voila. The pictures had been idling on my computer since August! Because I wasn’t sure. Not being sure is the culprit of so much idleness in my life. But finally I sat down stood at the kitchen counter — I sit enough at “the office” and edited these. My favorite from the batch is this little house. It’s in a residential area where the other homes are more or less in the same decrepit condition. If this were not Havana, I would have thought the house was condemned. But this humble sight is someone’s sweet home. Since all real estate belong to the state, people cannot just buy and sell at whim. Most people inherit their home from a parent who dies. Otherwise, they end up living there with their elderly parents, their adult siblings as well as their own spouse and children.
I love the vintage car in the yard. It is another irony in Havana life that these now expensive collector’s items are dirt cheap in Cuba yet a necessity like proper plumbing is a fantasy.
I wanted these pictures to feel the way I felt while in Havana. Hot!! and bleary-eyed and excited and really really thirsty…
I’ve also uploaded the photographs from Argentina. I visited two Novembers ago!! Finally getting to the editing. Moving forward by leaps here!! :)
– and now I’m on to another project. Taking advantage of this rainy day to get some things done.
Happy Sunday!
