Sometimes a random picture or  a “I wonder what these two things are like together” feeling will inspire me  to cook. I loved the colors in this magazine spread (background of picture) so I ripped them out and put them in my cooking inspiration folder that I keep open on the kitchen counter.

It’s not as involved a project as it sounds, haha. It consists of just filing post-its and pictures of things I’d love to eat, culled from magazines, newspapers, etc.

So, I made it. I made something that gave me the same feeling that photo had. I’m not even sure what the soup in the photo is but I like my version :)

Sautéed zuchinni, carrots, garlic  >>>  blended. Add spices to your taste buds’ delights.

I like Creole Seasoning.

And, I like to beat my  fresh garlic down into a fibrous mash so as to squeeze all the juicy spiciness out. For that I use the pilon, that wooden chalice next to the folder. Ubiquitous in kitchens in Haiti and fairly popular all around the Caribbean.

It’s the only part of cooking I remember liking as a kid. You get to make lots of noise and smash things under the guise of helping :)

Sautée lobster in drizzle of olive oil. Mix soup and lobster, cover, boil on medium heat.

Besides the good looks, this dish smells heavenly! A great treat on a sick day.
