How can a dish drying tray be Art? The things we have underfoot are not art! Art is what’s in the museum, I thought.
Design is one of those funny fields that requires so much technique so I never thought of it as Art. I thought of it as a learned practical skill. But now it seems to me that the more important factor in design, as in any other art, is the ineffable spark. Technique you can always learn. The magic of creation is the part you cannot learn. The magic of Art Design is utility.
